Innovative Lighting Solutions in Restaurant Reno

Brief
VISO was approached by AvroKO to design-engineer and fabricate the perfect lighting solution for Zou Zou's restaurant, in collaboration with GoodShop Manufacturies. This restaurant is housed within the modern-day luxury hotel, Pendry, in Manhattan, New York. As such, this lively and modern Eastern Mediterranean restaurant seats 75-guests and pays homage to the architecture of that region.
Working closely with AvroKO and GoodShop Manufacturies, VISO incorporated amber resin shades, intricate hand-blown glass, hydrographic wood, and specially crafted large reflective metals to support this unique package.
Client Need
To fit within the standards of Pendry, this restaurant needed to match a level of opulence associated with this brand. Because of this, creating and maintaining an inviting space where people would want to gather in was key. Designed by AvroKO, VISO, in collaboration with GoodShop Manufacturies, created the perfect lighting solution for Zou Zou's restaurant.
With these power houses working in collaboration, they successfully constructed a thoughtful environment to create an emotional experience. Taking inspiration from the Middle East, key characteristics shine through.
Challenges
Many times, the design intent involves specific key elements that need to be matched. In this project, that remained especially true. In one of the wall sconces, tehre was a request for a specific decorative band. Having international reach, VISO was able to source out a specific fabric and pattern that only came from Italy, while staying on budget.
Another challenge that presented itself was through the fabrication of the large ceiing mount. Therefore, this one-piece shade needed to have a reflective, polished surface without it being broken in sections. This proved significantly difficult due to its size and curved surface. With solid innovation, VISO was able to find a unique solution to this by thinking outside the parameters of traditional sources.
