Sick Kids
Whimsical design, with child-focused elements
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is Canada's most research-intensive hospital, and the largest center dedicated to improving children's health in the country.
SickKids’ vision is: Healthier Children. A Better World.
As leaders in child health, SickKids partners locally and globally to improve the health of children through the integration of care, research and education.
Project Horizon is SickKids’ multi-year campus transformation project to build a hospital of the future.
Client Brief :
As new spaces are created on the SickKids campus, whether through renewal or new build, opportunities arise to promote and engage with these spaces in various ways in the public realm. The newest building on the SickKids campus is the Patient Support Centre.
Design Intent :
The vision was to have thoughtful and whimsical design, with child-focused elements:
A hanging mobile in front lobby, murals on learning floors that include drawings from patients, rainbow glass framed exit stairwell visible from patient rooms across the street and much more.
