Brief

Rockwell Group, known for creating unique experiences, carefully selected VISO to design-engineer and manufacture a bespoke lighting package for this multipurpose, 74-acre entertainment complex which is home to 200 events that take place annually.

Client Need

Named after the Climate Pledge, this coliseum is known for its green initiatives and aims to be the most progressive, responsible, and sustainable arena in the world. The built-in premium spaces needed a luxurious design that also fell in-line with the arena's innovative goals and values.

Challenges

One of the main challenges was to custom manufacture oversized floor lamps that accommodate the size of the complex and, at the same time, offset and balance the weight of the fixture.

Challenges

A secondary challenge presented when the designer wanted to have custom dome pendants match specific opacities. As a result, this unique design features three domes neatly set within another, all with different treatments. The outer dome needed to be completely clear, while the middle dome needed a 20% opacity, and 50% opacity for the inner dome.

The Solution:

These oversized torchieres line the Möet & Chandon Impérial Lounge. Composed of antique brass and hydrographic wood, the frame is highly durable with the most realistic genuine wood grain pattern in the market. VISO calculated specific geometric angles for each arm to avoid stressing itself and hanging too low. Each of its large custom glass shades uses a pulley to support the weight.

The Solution:

VISO accomplished this by design-engineering two-sided clear and glossy polycarbonate shades. Specifically, the outer dome has a clear and glossy finish, the middle dome has an outside glossy/inside fine frost finish, and the inner dome has an outside glossy/inside frost finish. This treatment added dimension and a clean elegance to an otherwise simple form.

The fixture is 20"/508mm in diameter which houses two smaller 12"/305mm and 16"/406mm domes within.

The Solution:

The custom grand pendants are larger-than-life cylindrical pendants that vary in size and are covered by a fine-detailed metal mesh on each of the acrylic fins that wrap these custom lighting. Installed both individually or in clusters of three, these 18 fixtures use RGBW and DMX protocols, allowing post-installation customization of light sequences via a digital system.

The Solution:

Four oversized, grand-scale wall sconces sit at 66" tall with industrial design elements to match the exposed pipework that is displayed in the Symetra Club area. The proprietary antique brass finish carries throughout its form and matches the rest of the interior style.

The Solution:

Large-scale t-shaped wall sconces light the bar tables in the Symetra Club area. This impressive structure supports one blackened mesh drum for a single-armed sconce or two blackened mesh drums for the double-armed sconce. Each of these colossal drums, sitting at 34" in diameter, offer an airy quality due to its mesh frame.

The Solution:

Linear pendants of blackened steel frame the countertops of the Symetra Club area. This strong geometric structure draws beautiful lines across and highlight a robust design.

The Solution:

Custom dome pendants are affixed to an existing finished surface, edging the bar in the Mount Baker Hall. The stems are composed of blackened steel and antique brass which suspend a clear seeded glass down below.

An expansive 11-head pendant illuminates the Möet & Chandon Impérial Lounge. Composed of real brass, the rich hue is complemented by the burnt orange leather wrapped in shades that house COB LED.

The Solution:

A custom crystal chandelier is suspended in the Space Needle Lounge. Spanning 132"/3362mm in diameter this ring chandelier features a lavish display of crystals each at 18"/457mm in height. Completing this polished design is an antique brass plate that houses recessed downlights for additional illumination. Picking up on the brass hue and amber lights within, this custom chandelier transforms its crystals into an elegant display of cognac opulence.
