Illuminated Light Track System in Nusr-Et NYC

Working with TPG Architecture, VISO design-engineered a custom illuminated pendant rail system for Nusr-Et NYC. Located in the Meatpacking District, this continuous light rail is inspired by its environment, emulating a harmonious flow. Just like a well oiled fabrication plant, this custom fixture embodies operational efficiency, an important aspect of restaurant operations.

Brief

After the success of Nusr-Et Las Vegas, VISO worked with TPG Architecture once again to design-engineer a custom lighting package for Head Chef Nusret Gökçe’s NY restaurant location.

Client Need

Located within the transformed Meatpacking District, TPG drew inspiration from the area. Consequently, it was required to have a custom light installation that matched the space while weaving through existing millwork and piping throughout the space.

Challenges

The large track lighting needed to be designed with the existing space in mind. This meant having exact measurements and a thorough understanding of the ceiling space and treatment. Being off in one area could potentially jeopardize the whole system.

The Solution:

This modern installation emulates the famous New York subway lines. The continuous track is retrofitted into the space, moving around the existing ventilations, pipes, and ceiling. This unique track rail also lights up the ceiling through 743 linear feet of uplighting modules and suspends pendant light orbs that are staggered at different heights for additional illumination.
