As one of the famed Canadian National Railway hotels, the Westin Nova Scotian re-opens with a custom lighting package from VISO.
Custom lighting elements throughout the property were crafted by VISO Lighting, working in partnership with TPG Architecture and Moncur Design Associates. Highlights include sculptural chandeliers with laser-cut details in finishes like dark bronze, brushed brass, and polished nickel—bringing both functional elegance and continuity to the interior styling
Brief
The Westin Nova Scotian was built in 1930 as one of the famed Canadian National Railway hotels that stretched across Canada from the Pacific to the Atlantic oceans. Since re-opening as The Westin Nova Scotian, it quickly became a destination landmark for royalty and dignitaries. Its regal connections bridged Halifax to the rest of Canada. Today, this historical property defines the landscape of the Halifax Coastline.
Client Need
This historic hotel located in Halifax underwent a renovation drawing inspiration from its surrounding areas, highlighting natural landscapes. The space incorporates biophilia designs and abstract forms. This style needed to be extended to the light fixtures within the space as well.
