Brief

Creating a bespoke lighting package for a restaurant in the Miami Design Destrict is no ordinary task. Sofia Miami, the second location of Charles Khabouth's restaurant, emulates the trendy locale playing on vibrant hues and required a truly unique lighting installation to start inside the restaurant and continue outdoors to the bar area. Because of this, specific attributions were used to successfully bring this concept to life.

Client Need

Working in collaboration with Studio Munge, VISO manufactured the unique light fixture featured in the bar section that is half indoors and half outdoors. This large installation needed to be specially design-engineered to work with the location's weather conditions.

Challenges

This meant being able to stand strong against Miami gales without compromising the original design intent and aesthetics.

The Solution:

VISO manufactured specific acrylic tubes to accommodate the environment and surrounding lights. This installation sits at 158.63" and is comprised of 343 acrylic tubes that drape at different heights, creating a unique undulating pattern that wraps around the bar. A scintillating effect is added to the organic form through the reflection of 94 LED downlights.
