Amal Miami

Not Just Any Organic Hand-Woven Rattan Pendants

Famed restaurateur and hotelier Charles Khabouth recently opened up a new Amal restaurant in Coconut Grove, Miami. Working with Studio Munge, VISO Lighting design-engineered and fabricated bespoke large-scale fixtures that suspend over the dining area. The organic shape is refined by white trim and rattan that is hand-woven for an eleveated texture.

Brief

VISO was approached to design-engineer and fabricate a bespoke lighting package for this new restaurant. Miami is getting a fresh, new sophisticated restaurant my master restaurateur Charles Khabouth. Amal, meaning hope, celebrates Khabouth's Lebanese roots. In fact, the inspiration for this space comes from Lebanon's sandy shores and contemporary Mediterranean architecture. VISO, in collaboration with Studio Munge, design-engineered light fixtures that features soft palettes and natural elements to complete the overall aesthetic.

The Solution:

VISO design-engineered and fabricated large woven pendant lights that suspend above the dining tables. These large bohemian pieces, spanning 8-feet across feature an earthy palette. In addition to creating a warm ambiance, these lights each house one 4W LED bulb at 2700K.
