2023 Iconic Awards Winner Sofia Miami

Our project Sofia, located in the Miami Design District, has won the 2023 Iconic Awards in the category INTERIOR - Hospitality. Working alongside Studio Munge, VISO design-engineered and manufactured the iconic custom bar lighting that expands from inside the restaurant into the outdoor bar area. 

This meant that the large installation needed to be specially design-engineered to work with the location's weather conditions and stand strong against Miami gales, while keeping the original design intent and aesthetics. 

To achieve this, VISO manufactured specific acrylic tubes to accommodate the environment and surrounding lights, including 146 acrylic tubes for the exterior section, and 197 acrylic tubes for the interior totalling 343 acrylic tubes. This resulted in a custom installation that creates a unique undulating pattern that wraps around the bar. A scintillating effect is added to the organic form through the reflection of 94 LED downlights. 

The Iconic Awards: Innovative Architecture is a prestigious award that is only given to those in the industry that emulate the best innovative achievement. As an international award, it really is the best competing among the best of the world.
